So I guess every blog has to have a first post. This is that first post! I’m still not entirely sure what I want this blog to be about, what it will focus on and what its value will be to anyone – including me! There are two objectives though that I have in mind. The first is to have an easily accessible journal of my exploration and adventures in Artificial Intelligence, and the second is to hopefully provide something of value to other people that may have an interest in this area of technology. If it proves to be of no value to anyone other than me – then I guess that still makes it valuable.
As mentioned above, the focus will be on AI systems. This will likely be a bit of a jumble of posts as I make them. It’s not like I am starting at the beginning of my AI journey. I already have a number of years experience with Machine Learning and Generative AI. I’ve trained models, fine-tuned them, built RAG (Retrieval Augmented Generation) solutions and MCPs (Model Context Protocol). But I’ve found that I have an unorganized collection of notebooks, script files and other documents either in various repos or scattered across various computers. I want one place where all of this stuff can at least be indexed – so that when I need to go back and jog my memory on something, it’s easy to find.
That’s the intention anyway…
One other thing I want to make clear at this point. AI has been used to generate much of the content here – but only the code and perhaps some graphics. I’m an enthusiastic developer at best – there is no way that I would have been able to write most of the code on my own. I’m simply not that good a programmer! I will say though, that the written word is all mine. Every grammatical misstep, spelling mistake and questionable sentence structure is courtesy of me. In this age of AI slop, if I couldn’t be bothered writing these posts, what right do I have expecting a human to read it?
